The new normal
Well, working from home has definitely started to seem like ‘the new normal’ for many of us.
Although we are very excited to celebrate moving into our brand new office, the team’s safety is our priority. Equally, we are very aware of the impact that working from home and lockdown may be having on people’s mental health, and we are doing everything we can to make sure the team are okay. That said, we have also made it very clear that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes!
The results of our recent end of year survey were very positive and showed that 90% of the team feel the great culture at Equilibrium hasn’t been impacted by lockdown. We provide regular briefings and video updates to the team to ensure they know everything that is going on and never have to feel worried or uncertain.
Despite everything that’s going on in the wider world, it’s actually been a very positive six months at Equilibrium with a lot of fun and laughs along the way. I hope that you enjoy reading all about them in this edition of Equilibrium out and about and that it provides some light entertainment in these uncertain times.
Spooooooky pumpkins
The annual Equilibrium pumpkin competition once again delivered some incredibly artistic carvings from the team! We had a tie for the top spot between Client Manager Jorge Jackson’s jolly pumpkin and Executive Assistant Lucie Bloomfield’s take on the Mind Flayer from Stranger Things.
I would walk 500 miles…
As you may know, Equilibrium took part in East Cheshire Hospice’s corporate challenge in September and set ourselves the goal of walking the distance from Manchester to Athens (around four million steps) between us. Unfortunately, the hospice has had to cancel many of its usual fundraising efforts due to lockdown.
The Equilibrium team pulled together to smash the target, walking over seven million steps throughout the month. Other fundraising efforts included our marketing team walking the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats between them and one of our house teams climbing the height of Mount Everest – on the stairs!
We are pleased to say that we raised an incredible £4,600 and were honoured to be crowned the winners of the corporate challenge by the hospice.
The Chase is on!
We’ve had plenty of virtual games and quizzes throughout lockdown to keep the team feeling connected even though we’re apart. In a particularly exciting quiz, Shaun Wallace (also known as ‘the Dark Destroyer) from the BBC’s The Chase hosted the quiz!
Celebrating the year
COVID-19 didn’t stop us from celebrating the end of the fiscal year with the whole team. Various members of the senior leadership team presented a live stream to the team discussing the successes of the year as well as the exciting plans we have for 2021.
Of course, we also had our usual team awards which saw the whole company vote for their winners in categories such as ‘unsung hero’ and ‘best newcomer’.
