The latest winners of our Community Support Scheme

Since 2015 The Equilibrium Foundation has been supporting organisations who make the local area a better place through our community support scheme. Each quarter charitable organisations operating in Greater Manchester, Cheshire East and Chester and District have the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £500.

We are delighted to announce that the winners for Q2 2022 are:

    Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank

Operating similarly to a food bank Bare Necessities collect, buy and distribute toiletries to 32 local charities and organisations each month. They support the following sectors: women, youth & schools, mother & baby, food banks and homeless. Their ‘Give a Smile’ dental project offers three months’ supply of dental kit to families and individuals who may be toothbrush sharing or brushing their teeth with just water. In 2021 they were able to give out over 1,000 kits.

Wendy Hobson, Chairperson of Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank, said,

“This grant will allow us to continue to reach out to the very many local people facing various economic challenges including hygiene poverty. Giving someone the basic toiletries, we all take for granted works on so many levels. Being clean assists mental health, dignity and confidence.”

    Press Red

Press Red’s mission is to be a significant force in the fight to eradicate abuse and violence against women in all forms through increasing awareness while challenging and changing attitudes and behaviours. They deliver lessons on abuse in schools, hold breakfasts for leaders in which they educate them about violence against women, and run an active bystander training programme. Prior to lockdowns they had a hard-hitting drama called ‘Control’ which they are looking to relaunch.

Rosemary Hack, CEO of Press Red, said,

“Press Red is extremely grateful for the grant. This will help us to continue to present cutting edge programmes that fulfil our vision which is of a world in which no individual, society, or culture accepts abuse and violence against women.”

    Croftwood Care Home

Croftwood Care Home is a 47-bed residential home that specialises in dementia and respite care for the elderly. Over the past two years, due to the pandemic, their residents have not had the opportunity to go out on trips or allow entertainers to come to them. This grant will allow them to kickstart a range of activities again which is greatly beneficial to their residents and ultimately enhances their quality of life.

When they were told they were the winners of the grant, their response was,

“You have no idea how much this means. It will enable us to plan activities/entertainment for our residents.”
